With the shutdown of the KnownOrigin marketplace, preserving these NFTs is vital to maintaining their accessibility and protecting digital heritage. Our approach aims to ensure that every asset will remain available and verifiable through decentralized storage, providing peace of mind for artists, collectors, and the broader NFT community. We’re committed to transparency, resilience, and aligning with the community’s needs for secure, reliable, and future-proofed storage solutions.

Key Components of the Initiative:

• Hot Storage for Enhanced Accessibility
  KnownOrigin will fund hot storage for the next 2 years, ensuring that NFT data remains highly available and easily retrievable. Hot storage is critical for immediate access to NFT data, providing users with seamless, on-demand retrieval.

• Smart Contract Adjustments for IPFS Links
  As part of Pob Studio's Preserve Initiative, KnownOrigin is upgrading its NFT contracts to structure IPFS links for long-term accessibility. For V1 and V2 contracts, the base URI will be updated to use the IPFS format (e.g., ipfs://), while V3 and V4 contracts will have new tokenURI resolvers deployed. These upgrades ensure that all metadata and media files remain easily retrievable and correctly formatted, safeguarding the future accessibility of these digital assets.

• Decentralized Long-Term Filecoin Storage
  KnownOrigin’s off-chain NFT media and metadata will be backed up using NFT.Storage’s long-term storage that has an on-chain endowment. Through NFT.Storage’s decentralized infrastructure on the Filecoin network, this approach aims to ensure that KnownOrigin’s data remains safe, verifiable, and available over the long term.
